Work on the back 9

Work has now been completed to raise the back of the 12th & 15th green, to improve their playability. I hope you are pleased with the results. Work is continuing on re-shaping the green side bunkers on the  13th, 15th and 16th holes we will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum during this time.

You may also note that the tee on the 1st hole on the Norwood course is being extended and a new bunker is being constructed on the 7th hole on the West Wood course. Additional pathways are also being constructed on this course.

WEST WOOD ACADEMY COURSE

OPENED 4th APRIL 2009

Golfers have enjoyed playing the championship 18 hole Norwood Course and using the extensive practice facilities for nearly 10 years. The latest addition, opened on 4th April, is the West Wood Academy course. This has been developed over the last 2 years and comprises 9 superb PAR3 holes.

Designed by the same USA course designer and past President of the American society of golf course architects, Clyde B. Johnston, it has been constructed to the same high standard and will appeal to all levels of golfer. Experienced golfers will find the undulating fairways with strategically placed bunkers and water features, together with the subtle borrows on the greens (constructed to USGA standards) a challenge and an opportunity to hone their game to perfection; while beginners will relish practising their new found skills on a shorter course.

It is 10 years this year since we opened the first nine and here we are with 27 holes ready for play. We hope members and visitors alike will enjoy the special events our Captains have organised for the forthcoming months.
